Who we are

What we store

• Your Apple ID identifier. Sign in with Apple gives us a stable, app-specific identifier so we can recognise your account. We never see your Apple password.
• Your name and email, if you choose to share them when you first sign in. Apple lets you hide your email; if you do, we only receive a relay address.
• Documents you upload (PDFs, slides, documents, images) and the text and figures extracted from them.
• Study material we generate from your documents: topics, summaries, questions, flashcards and course outlines.
• Your study progress: answers, scores, review schedule and mastery.
• Sharing activity, if you use it: the courses and groups you join, connections, invites, and any reports you make.
• A push notification token, only if you turn notifications on.

Where it is processed

Posie runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Storage: your account, documents and study data are stored in AWS eu-west-2 (London).
• AI processing: reading your documents and generating study material uses Amazon Bedrock in eu-west-1 (Ireland). AWS does not use this content to train models.
• Illustrations: course card pictures are generated with Amazon Bedrock in us-west-2 (Oregon). Only a short visual description (for example "a microscope on a desk") is sent there, never your documents or personal information.

What other people can see

Your courses are private unless you share them.

• People you connect with, or who share a course or group with you, can see your display name.
• If you join a shared course, the course creator can see that you are a member. Your answers, scores and mastery stay private to you.
• Course creators see insights for a cohort only as totals and averages, and only when at least five learners contribute to a figure. A creator sees your name next to your results only if you choose to share it for that course, and you can stop sharing at any time.
• Exam results are shared with others who sat the same exam only if you opt in.

What we do not do

• No advertising and no ad tracking.
• No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
• We do not sell or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.

Why we use your data

We use your data only to provide Posie to you: to sign you in, process your documents, generate your study material, track your progress, run the sharing features you choose to use, keep the service safe and, if enabled, send study reminders. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping Posie safe when we review reports.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can delete individual documents and courses in the app at any time.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and everything in it: documents, generated material, study progress and push tokens, and revokes Posie's link to your Apple ID. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Posie is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
